DAY 1 (HB) - Calais to Troyes - Ferry Crossing from Dover to Calais (other crossings available on request) followed by the journey south via Reims to Troyes where you'll spend your first night at the excellent Golden Tulip Hotel in Troyes. A welcome dinner is arranged at the hotel - Mileage approx. 250 miles

DAY 2 (BB) - Troyes to Lake Annecy - Departing Troyes after breakfast today you have the choice of takling the direct route to Annecy via Langres, Dijon and Bourg-en-Bresse, or a scenic drive via the Route des Grands Crus (Wine Route) showcasing the most prestigious section of Burgundy's vineyards, between Dijon and Beaune then on to Santenay. Here you'll discover 38 picturesque wine villages of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, wineries, and beautiful countryside over a length of 60km. The first part of the route follows an axis parallel to the former N74 road, newly renamed the D974. This prestigious Côte de Nuits contains a string of the greatest red wines in the world, including 24 of Burgundy’s 33 grands crus (Romanée-Conti, Clos de Vougeot, Chambertin). After Corgoloin, it’s the Côte de Beaune region as far as the slopes of Maranges. The blessed land of Chardonnay producing the greatest dry white wines in the world, with Corton Charlemagne, the wines of Meursault, Montrachet. Arrival at Lake Annecy and and the Novotel Annecy Centre Atria should be late afternoon/early evening - Mileage: Direct route approx. 290 miles or scenic route approx. 300 miles

DAYS 3 & 4 (BB) - Breakfast followed by the days at leisure in and around Lake Annecy, often called the French Venice. Its beautiful medieval old town is intersected by small canals and flower decked quays. The 12 century Palais de l’Isle is an island fortress in the River Thiou which was once a prison has splendid views of the old town. The bustling streets, delightful street cafés where you can watch the world go by and interesting shops make it a superb place to relax. Annecys local market is held on Tuesday in Rue Ste-Claire. Organised boat excursions in Annecy are a very relaxing way to discover the lake and see the alpine mountains and take you all around the lake.

DAY 5 - Breakfast followed by the journey south to the Maurienne Valley where you'll have the opportunity to explore some of the amazing passes en route to St Georges Hotel in St Jean-de-Maurienne, your base for the next 3 nights - Mileage approx. 75 miles


DAY 6 & 7 (BB) - Breakfast followed by two days exploring the passes of the Maurienne. The distances from the hotel to the top of the passes is: Col du Télégraphe (1566m) - 16 miles, Col du Grand Cucheron (1188m) - 24.5 miles,

Col du Galibier (2646m) - 10 miles, Col de la Madeleine (2000m) - 20 miles, Col du Mont-Cenis (2084m) - 33 miles,

Col du Glandon (1908m) - 20 miles, Col de l'Iseran (2764m) - 55 miles, Col de la Croix de Fer (2067m) - 18 miles,

Col du Mollard (1650m) - 11 miles and Col de Chaussy (1533m) – 11 miles

DAY 8 (BB) - Breakfast followed by departure from the hotel for the journey back to Troyes and the excellent Mercure hotel in the centre of the Troyes. Mileage approx. 350 miles excluding stops
