Berlin's combo of glamour and grit is bound to mesmerise anyone keen to explore its vibrant culture, cutting-

edge architecture, fabulous food, intense parties and tangible history, however there are few city silhouettes

more striking than Dresden’s, the classic view from the Elbe’s northern bank takes in spires, towers and domes belonging to palaces, churches and stately buildings, and indeed it's hard to believe that the city was all but

wiped off the map by Allied bombings in 1945. The Harz Mountains is the land of German fairy tales, steep-roofed houses with tiny windows and narrow, cobblestone streets, dark forests, rushing streams and stormy mountains.

Our Driving Tour Includes

• Return P&O Ferry Crossing Dover to Calais

(Other crossings are available on request)

We've just returned from the Bruges & Brussels Classic Tour and would like to thank everyone at Scenic & Continental Car Tours for the professional way this event was organised.  My wife and I very much enjoyed this long weekend and I would especially like to mention the hard work that Eddy Lepez and his wife put into looking after us, they make the whole experience feel that much more personal.

Regards, David Oxenbury

Berlin has so many attractions, it’s hard to say exactly how many! Berlin’s Mitte district alone has a wealth of famous sights from Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag Parliament building to Berlin’s Cathedral Church and the TV Tower. This is a city that staged a revolution, was headquartered by Nazis, bombed to bits, divided in two and finally reunited and that was just in the 20th century! Walk along remnants of the Berlin Wall, marvel at the splendour of a Prussian palace, visit Checkpoint Charlie or stand in the very room where the Holocaust was planned. Berlin is like an endlessly 3D textbook where the past is very much present wherever you go.

The Harz Mountains There is something familiar about the little towns tucked away in deep in the wooded valleys as these were the scenes of many childhood stories. The Brothers Grimm collected their stories from various places, primarily the area around Kassel about 40 miles to the west, but the Harz Mountains have long been famous as an important source of German folklore. Many of these stories are well-known the world over. Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelstiltskin, Tom Thumb, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and The Frog Prince.

Dresden - On the banks of the lovely Elbe River, the German city of Dresden is lush and green, filled with forests and gardens and parks. The city is rich with cultural and artistic history; the great operatic composer Wilhelm Wagner debuted a number of works here in the 1800s and, today, an independent light opera company keeps the classical art form modern and fresh. Culture vultures will love the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister and Grünes Gewölbe museums, and architecture buffs will salivate over the mélange of styles reflected in the cityscape.
