DAY 1 (D) - Following the journey from your home, arrival at the Riverside Hotel in Kendal for check-in is mid/late afternoon. Following check-in and some free time to freshen up, we have arranged a welcome group dinner, so that you can meet other members on this tour.

DAY 2 (HB) Kendal to Alnwick - Departing Kendal and the hotel after breakfast, today you'll embark on the first part of The Border 500 Tour. Your route today takes you through the North Pennines via Melmerby, Alston, bearsbridge and Langley to Hexham. Once the haunt of marauding Vikings 1300 years ago, nowadays Hexham proudly holds the title of England’s favourite market town. The town centre here is filled with winding streets with Hexham Abbey, the keystone of Hexham’s assets, at its hub. Visit Hexham’s Old Gaol, an imposing stone cube, built in 1333 as England’s first purpose-built prison. Explore Hexham’s eclectic shops or browse through the town’s market stalls which are open every day of the week in the ancient Shambles. From Hexham yout journey on The Border 500 continues via Chollerford, Kirkharle and Rothbury with arrival in Alnwick and the White Swan Hotel late afternoon - Mileage approx. 115 miles

DAY 5 (HB) - Cairnryan to Larne - Breakfast followed by an early morning check-out from the hotel for an early morning sailing from Cairnryan to Belfast. After disembarkation in Belfast you'll have some free time to explore Belfast before heading north on the Causeway Coast to Carrickfergus. Overnight is at the Excellent Loughshore Hotel with dinner included.

DAY 3 (HB) Alnwick to Moffat - Departing Alnwick and and the hotel after breakfast, today you'll continue your journey on The Border 500 Tour. Today's routing today takes you via Alnwick Castle, Eglingham, Crookham to Kelso.  The picturesque country town of Kelso lies in a fine setting at the junction of the rivers Tweed and Teviot. Kelso is full of architectural and historic interest, in 1128 David I granted monks permission to build an abbey across the water from his castle, Roxburgh. The spacious Kelso Square claims to be the largest in Scotland, at its centre is still the Bull Ring, a reminder of past market days. The square is now host to many specialist shops. The graceful five-arched bridge over the Tweed, built by John Rennie in 1803, was the model for London's Waterloo Bridge. From Kelso you'll continue on the Border 500 via Maxton to the picturesque town of Melrose, the birthplace of Rugby Sevens and closeby, the triple peaks of the Eildon Hills are the most distinctive single landmark in the Scottish Borders. From Melrose your journey takes you via Cardrona and Cappercleuch with arrival in Moffat and the Annandale Arms Hotel late afternoon - Mileage approx. 110 miles

DAY 4 (HB) - Moffat to Portpatrick - Departing Moffat after breakfast, today you'll continue west on The Border 500 route. Today's routing today takes you via Watermeetings, Durisdeer Mill, Thornhill and Balmaclellan to the picturesque Loch Ken, situated north of the popular market town of Castle Douglas in the Glenkens. Continuing via Mossdale, Talnotry and Newton Stewart The Border 500 route heads north via Knockville and Barrhill before dropping back down via Glenwhilly and Castle Kennedy with arrival in Stranraer and the North West Castle Hotel late afternoon - Mileage approx. 135 miles

DAY 6 (BB) - Carrickfergus to Portrush - Depart hotel after breakfast and enjoy the Causeway Coastal Route from Carrickfergus to Coleraine taking in all of the sights en route including the Gobbins Experience, Torr Head, Ballycastle, Carrick-a-Rede, Dunluce Castle, Giants Causeway and Portrush. Overnight at the Causeway Hotel.

 

DAY 7 (BB) - The day at leisure on the Causeway Coast - Explore all of the wonderful drives and attractions the area has to offer including the UNESCO World Heritage Site at the Giants Causeway, Downhill Demense & Mussenden Temple. Overnight at the Causeway Hotel.

DAY 8 (HB) - Coleraine to Belfast - Departing after breakfast your journey takes via Dark Hedges you to Belfast. Here you can enjoy the sights and attractions of this great city including the Titanic Experience, Albert Clock. Cave Hill. Harland & Wolff. Stormont Castle and St. George’s Market. One of the best ways to see the city is on one of the hop-on hop-off sightseeing tours. Overnight stay at the excellent Malone Lodge Hotel - Mileage approx. 65 miles.

Belfast Montage

DAY 9 (BB) - Belfast to Dublin - Breakfast followed by some free time in Belfast City before heading back to the Airport or your departure port for your Flight or Stena Line crossing back to the UK.
