Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location located in northern Italy, about halfway between Brescia and Verona. There are lots of bright, colourful towns dotted around the Lake, and its clear blue waters are edged with Cypress trees, olive groves and dramatic mountains. Desenzano is one of the largest towns on the lake and is popular with foreign visitors and Italian visitors alike. Located on the lake's south west corner, its own train station so you can easily get to Milan, Verona or Venice. You can sunbathe on the shingle beaches on either side of the resort or have a wander around the boutiques and stylish street cafes and bars.
The Stelvio Pass at 2757m is one of the highest and most dramatic mountain passes in the Alps. Best approached from the north west you’ll experience the drive down the famous switchbacks driving through the heart of the Stelvio National Park before starting the descent, taking you through some great stretches of alpine forest and fast sweeping roads prior to your arrival at the foot of the pass. The drive down to Bormio is a spectacular drive and has a number of vantage points to stop and take pictures of the valley.

Attractions Around Lake Garda
From landscapes to language, from famous food to friendly locals, the attractions of the Italian Lakes are unique and unmistakable. The two favourites and probably the most famous are Lake Garda and Lake Como. The tour also includes 2 nights on Lake Lucerne, encircled by popular mountains. It is somewhat reminiscent of a fjord landscape, yet remains characterised by a mild lake climate. Boat cruises on board historic paddle steamers are amongst the highlights of this region.
